Mortenson Selected to Transform Embassy Suites into Ritz-Carlton Hotel
April 26, 2006
Denver, CO - Mortenson's Denver office is pleased to announce the start of construction for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in downtown Dever, Colorado. The $40M design-build project with Pahl-Pahl-Pahl Architects and Planners is Mortenson’s third project for developer Sunstone Hotels. Mortenson was selected for the project on a non-compete basis due to our positive experience in working on the JW Marriott Hotel at Cherry Creek.
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel will transform the existing Embassy Suites, a 37-story high-rise. The hotel will occupy floors 1-19 with 202 guest rooms, 23 residences (one, two and three bedrooms) and 12,000 SF of meeting space. The renovation will also include the addition of a 6,000 SF grand ballroom at the plaza level and a lounge area and restaurant at street level of the existing building. Three levels of underground parking will be utilized by both guests of the hotel and the residents. Construction is scheduled to begin in May with completion expected in the summer of 2007.
