After graduating from Colgate University, David spent three years as a ship driver and the Combat Information Center Officer in the United States Navy. He joined the family business in 1991 and currently serves as Executive Vice President. He oversees operating groups in the Midwest and Asia which are focused on integrated delivery (including BIM and VDC) of high-tech manufacturing, health care, life science, corporate and higher education projects

He is a board member of the University of Minnesota College of Design, The Minneapolis Foundation, and the University of Puget Sound Business School, as well as a member of the Itasca Group.
