Rush Creek Wind energy turbines
Rush Creek Wind Project / LimonCO
Boosting Colorado's wind generation capacity by 20 percent.

Xcel Energy selected Mortenson to construct the Rush Creek Wind Project in Limon, Colorado. This was Mortenson’s first wind project built directly for Xcel Energy and the largest wind project in Mortenson’s history.

The scope of work included access roads, foundations, collection system installation, O&M building, erection and wiring of 300 Vestas V110 2.0 MW turbines. Mortenson also self-performed all civil and high voltage work. Construction of the project began in June of 2017 and was completed in October of 2018. The terrain was flat to rolling hills.

A challenge for this project was that the two phases were 35 miles apart, laydown yard to laydown yard, requiring a very efficient schedule to keep everything moving and finished on time.
