Summary:
Mortenson’s Energy Storage and Solutions Group is currently seeking an experienced Sr. Scheduler with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This individual will perform routine oversight of all planning and scheduling activities.
Locations: Minneapolis HQ or working from a regional office or remote.
Travel: 3-5 days per month max.
Responsibilities:
Provide oversight of all planning and scheduling activities
- Plan, coordinate, supervise, and direct planning and scheduling activities
- Ensure that corporate planning and schedule stands are implemented and that all project related activities comply
Provide oversight and supervision of scheduling team
- Coach, mentor, and train field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendents
- Establish and nurture teamwork environment
- Ensure crews have resources and support
- Provide work direction and performance evaluations
- Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions if needed
- Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities
- Implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety Program at project site
- Manage open shop and union issues
Other duties as assigned
- Maintain relationships with all visitors to the site: customers, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, et al.
- Manage site work and logistics efficiently, providing suggestions for improvement
Required Skills:
- Minimum of six (6) years construction experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Thorough knowledge of scheduling concepts, principles, practices, and company software such as P6 & PowerProject
- Thorough knowledge of standard construction practices and project sequencing
- Shown ability to exercise creativity and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems on complex projects
- Strong plan and specification reading, review and interpretation skills
- Basic knowledge of project management, contracts, and buyout
- Working knowledge of 4D visual planning methodologies
- Strong organization and team skills
- Basic knowledge of cost and resource loaded schedules
- Basic knowledge of claims avoidance and resolution techniques
- Ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative, team-based environment
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with initiative to seek innovative solutions
- Results-oriented to ensure delivery of appropriate products and services in an accurate, complete, and timely fashion
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
- Ability to travel may be required based on operating group
- Current driver’s license
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field
