PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION 

Responsible for providing skilled craftsmanship for maintenance and installation of electrical systems. Provides oversight to Electrical craft team members.

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) 

  1. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools 
  2. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components 
  3. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system 
  4. Install, repair, and maintain motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring, and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations 
  5. Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations 
  6. Repair and maintain high voltage systems 
  7. Organize work by receiving and studying work orders; gather tools and supplies 
  8. Read prints, layout work and install new service 
  9. Repair electrical problems by replacing faulty parts and components 
  10. Maintain electrical systems by conducting system tests; complete preventive maintenance requirements 
  11. Keep supplies ready by placing orders 
  12. Maintain safe work environment by following standards and procedures; comply with codes 
  13. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read technical publications 
  14. Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance 
  15. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 
  16. All other duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Ability to speak and understand English, ability to speak Spanish is a plus 
  2. Some ability to read plans 
  3. Shown emotional intelligence; being aware of the motions of self and others 
  4. Ability to operate equipment such as: table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging and form systems 
  5. Strong teamwork orientation 
  6. Positive attitude and professional customer service skills 
  7. Detail orientation 
  8. Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

  1. High school diploma or GED 
  2. Minimum five years of related experience 
  3. Trade or technical school certification/diploma 
  4. Apprentice aptitude test 
  5. Union specific training 
  6. Project specific/Mortenson training 
  7. Current driver’s license.
