SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking an Automation Engineer for their Solar Group who will work with the Industrialization Group and assist and drive the development of RC Vehicle Platforms, and work with Robotic Platforms covering Semi-Autonomous uses on constructions sites.

Based in Minneapolis, MN.

Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for the design, development, implementation, and training of the Semi-Autonomous and Robotics platforms:

  • Develop and execute system engineering documentation.
  • Design, test, and validate innovation projects 
  • Undertake design, analysis, and verification of existing engineering systems
  • Assist with the development of RC vehicle platforms for various applications
  • Assist with Robotics platforms covering Semi-Autonomous
  • Drive the company-wide adoption of Industrialization good practices and development of quality procedures.
  • Provide technical input to Systems Engineering and Integration business development across the product groups and market sectors.
  • Define, cascade, and oversee execution of Statement of Work/ Statement of Requirements for system, sub-systems and system components.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • High-quality delivery – collaborating as a team and bringing the product to fruition

Required Skills:

  • Good understanding of business acumen, such as managing budgets. 
  • Understanding of commercial business factors within the organization
  • Knowledge of electrical hardware (including wire harness), software, and electrical circuit theory as it relates to embedded controls for electro-mechanical systems is a must
  • Knowledge of vehicle-based control and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of system-level safety concepts and requirements, related standards (including ISO 26262) beneficial and industry tools such as DFMEA, FTA, Hazard Analysis
  • Understanding of mechatronic systems (PWM, motion control, motion logic, etc.) is preferred
  • Knowledge of EDA tools, electronic circuit board design, and manufacturing. Familiarity with the fabrication and testing of electronic products is preferred
  • Knowledge of C, Python, Arduino code, Matlab, Simulink
  • Understanding of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Willing to travel to project sites, supporting technical training. The position requires minimum of 50% domestic travel.
  • Location: Minneapolis, MN – Mortenson Headquarters
  • Current driver’s license

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on technical background in systems design and development.
