Mortenson was selected as General Contractor to complete Festival Park for the Town of Castle Rock. Located at the junction of Sellars Gulch Trail and East Plum Creek Trail, in the middle of downtown Castle Rock, this beautiful park is home to a number of community events and features a large pavilion, two fire pits, splash pad, pedestrian bridges, open lawn creekside picnic area, Wi-Fi throughout the park, and an iconic lantern feature.

At the cost of $5.9 million, Festival Park is a recreation center providing public gathering spaces and several amenities for community events for all to enjoy. The project was developed in partnership with the Downtown Development Authority and the Downtown Merchants Association with the ultimate goal of transforming the park into a modern Downtown Center.

At just over 2-acres, the scope of work to construct the park included 15,000 yards of earthwork, significant storm, water, sanitary sewer improvements, two pedestrian bridges, a restroom building, upgraded site seating and lighting, concrete flatwork and walls, splash pad, and water play area, stream stabilizations and waterway improvements, and substantial landscaping enhancements. Mortenson self-performed a majority of the work, including all earthwork and utility installation.
