MNSCU St. Cloud State University Dorm Renovation / St. Cloud, MN
How do you renovate a college dorm to be energy efficient and sustainable?
Mortenson renovated more than 80,000 square feet of space within Case & Hill Residence Halls and an adjoining two-story large Commons area at St. Cloud State University. The project included demolition of the interior core restrooms, resident rooms, and corridor walls to provide updated restrooms with additional privacy, larger door openings for accessibility, upgraded heating systems/controls/plumbing, additional electrical outlets and data ports, upgraded audio visual/security systems, and all new finishes throughout the facility.
Exterior work consisted of refreshing the main entry into the resident halls by adding a feature canopy above the main entry supported by a vibrant brick pier. Along with this work included demolition of the existing loading dock and adding ramps, exterior railings, and ADA access into the building for students, vendors, and facilities staff. New air handling units were installed on the roofs along with new lightning protection, and accessible roof access ladders.
