The Bonneville Power Administration’s Technical Services Building in Vancouver, Washington, received a National Award of Merit in the Federal/State/County Municipal from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA).
Merit Award winning projects will go on to compete for the National Awards of Excellence. The winners will be announced at DBIA's Design-Build Conference & Expo Awards Ceremony in National Harbor, Maryland. Winning a DBIA National Awards of Excellence carries substantial significance in the construction industry because they recognize outstanding projects that exemplify the principles of design-build methodology. Being recognized with these awards speaks volumes about our commitment to excellence and innovative solutions.
Bonneville Power Administration is an organization that provides clean, reliable and affordable hydropower to eight states throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Technical Services Building has been purpose-built to support the maintenance, testing, and repair of modern electronic transmission communication and controls. Our innovative, progressive design-build approach was a first for BPA. We exceeded their performance goals while transforming how their work is contracted, designed, and constructed – laying the foundation for a successful 10-year complex redevelopment.
The project helped avoid $25 million in upgrades to the old buildings it replaced and helped save hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in avoided lease costs. It is the first of several projects to be delivered in BPA’s 10-year, multi-project campus redevelopment plan. BPA worked with an Owner Advisor to ensure that the team could make informed decisions and to aid in fostering a highly collaborative environment throughout the construction process.
