What does an electrical engineer do?
A field-based electrical engineer at Mortenson is responsible for overseeing the electrical scope of work on our electrical-intensive projects. Your unique background and detailed understanding of the complexity of electrical components provides technical advantages to our teams in electrical planning, problem solving, troubleshooting, and quality management.
With our diverse portfolio, you could support hyperscale data center builds or fuel the world’s renewable energy future on some of the largest solar, wind, or battery storage projects in the country.

One thing I love about my role is the interactions I have with the craft electricians and subcontractors. They know their installation process and equipment best, and I learn from them to better understand the intricacies of equipment. They will speak with me on electrical issues that they find to hopefully find some answers to things that I have additional knowledge in. It’s rewarding to be able to help in that way.

Our in-house engineer of record team, Mortenson Engineering Services, offers Electrical Engineers, Civil Structural Engineers, Computer Engineers, and others with a passion for design the opportunity to apply their skills at the exciting and influential stage of design. These teams use their engineering and problem-solving skills to fuel better outcomes for our customers and field teams by integrating design, procurement, and construction delivery.
