Days of Giving - Focus on Safety

Craftworkers Take Part in Days of Giving Safety Initiative Across the Milwaukee Operating Group

Earlier this year, each of our Milwaukee team members were encouraged to write down an I Will statement that highlighted their commitment to safety and wear it on their safety vest. To recommit to the I Will program and remind and encourage our team members and subcontractor partners why they work safe, the St. Camillus CBRF & Jesuit Residence  developed the Days of Giving initiative and the Lodge KohlerFroedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Acuity project teams followed suit and implemented it on their sites.

Leading up to the holidays, all workers onsite who have completed Mortenson’s training and share in our safety culture receive a raffle ticket. After stretch each day, a raffle ticket is drawn. The worker whose name is drawn shares a story about a safety incident that occurred on a previous project and their I Will statement. After sharing their safety story/commitment with the team, the worker can then pick an envelope off of the tree in the project office. Each envelope contains a handwritten note from a project team member and a gift card ranging from $25 - $100.

The Days of Giving initiative has been well received from everyone onsite and within the Milwaukee Operating group.
