New Hockey Arena Breaks Ground in West Fargo
The West Fargo Public Schools celebrated the groundbreaking of a new hockey arena on Monday, August 8th. The new 70,000 square foot arena will include two competition ice rinks, locker rooms, a lobby, and support spaces. In addition, the design will incorporate future expansion for a third ice rink for practice, as well as dryland training space.
In attendance to commemorate the start of construction was Senator Tyler Axness, Superintendent Dr. David Flowers, the Fargo Chamber of Commerce, and the project team of JLG Architects and Mortenson. Several representatives from West Fargo Public Schools were also there to celebrate this exciting project, including Activities Directors Ross Richards and Jay DeCann, Business Manager Mark Lemer, Director of Building and Grounds Pete Diemert, and several School Board Members and Youth Hockey players.
JLG Architects will lead the facility design with Stevens Engineering providing design, consultation, and construction administration services related to the ice systems, including the ice rink floor, refrigeration system, dasher board system, and waste heat recovery system. The arena project will complete and be ready for competitions in September 2017.
