Early Finish on Dickinson Middle School in North Dakota

Vendors are currently delivering and assembling classroom furniture at the new Dickinson Middle School. These exciting activities are happening three months before Dickinson Public Schools (DPS) was scheduled to take ownership of the building.

Detailed planning and sequencing helped the project team stay ahead of the schedule. Trade partner engagement with the creation and management of the construction schedule allowed for efficient trade flow and reduced time between processes. Favorable winter conditions during 2015 and 2016 also resulted in zero lost days due to weather during the structural and enclosure phases of the project.

“We have been very impressed with Mortenson’s professionalism and adherence to timelines and schedules,” said Vince Reep, Assistant Superintendent of DPS. “These actions will greatly help the District to get ahead of the transition needed to open a new school. Mortenson’s tireless efforts to make this happen, exhibits their commitment to their customers and spotlights how they strive for excellence.”

The new, 200,000 square foot middle school will open for the 2017/2018 school year. It accommodates students in grades 6-8 and will incorporate state of the art technology to allow opportunities for new ways of educating.
