Northern Star Council Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Leadership Center
The Northern Star Council Boy Scouts of America hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking on May 17, 2017 to kick off construction on the new Peter J. King Family Foundation Leadership Center. This exciting new facility will open in the summer of 2018, and will extend the Base Camp Campus, offering additional, focused learning through leadership experiences. The Center will extend scouting’s educational approach beyond the 240,000 participants who have taken part in in Base Camp programming since its opening in 2010.
Capital campaign co-chairs Alan Bernick and Fritz Corrigan expressed gratitude to the project donors, whose contributions exceeded the campaign goal of $15M, with a total of $18.3M raised. Russell King, President of the Peter J. King Family Foundation, shared his excitement for the project and its mission to support the next generation of leaders in the Twin Cities through experiential learning and providing opportunities for “100 percent” of children in our community.
