The Acuity Insurance Corporate Headquarters expansion and renovation consisted of a 262,000 SF addition to the existing facility as well as 28,000 SF of renovations. The Acuity project was developed with an emphasis on collaboration. The team worked together to create a building of pride and history for Acuity. Not only was the facility constructed within budget, but the headquarters project was completed five months ahead of schedule due to this collaborative mentality.
The accelerated schedule, however, did not in any way compromise quality. The facility is of exquisite quality and consists of exterior slate roofs, Duratherm wood curtainwall and punched window systems, Biesanz limestone, Vermont slate and Jerusalem stone flooring, structural wood trusses, and wood decking. The beautiful custom millwork items of oak, cherry, African mahogany, teak, and Douglas fir required meticulous maintenance of heat and humidity to protect the millwork and structural wood elements. Great care was taken to coordinate the structural steel with structural wood due to differences in fabrication and erection tolerances, while a specific Reachmaster lift was required to access the highest elevations 87 feet above the reception area. In all, the expansion houses both open and executive office areas, a fitness center, and a commercial kitchen, servery and dining area sized to accommodate serving 3,000 people over three shifts.
