Augustana University is the largest private university in South Dakota. As part of the Viking Bold Plan—a strategic plan designed to lead Augustana through 2030—adapting their physical campus was identified as a key goal.
To understand the demand for on-campus housing and evaluate creative procurement and financing strategies, Augustana engaged Wachalski Advisory, Project Financial Advisory Limited, and RBC Capital Markets. The student housing master plan team conducted a detailed market and financial feasibility analysis to craft a strategy to deliver new and renovated on-campus housing with Mortenson as their real estate development and design-build partner.
The result was a multi-phased, student housing master plan, to be completed over the course of five years. Phase one includes the new south residence hall, renovation of two existing residence halls, infrastructure upgrades, campus greens revitalization and campus parking upgrades.
