Cheney Stadium Renovation / Tacoma, WA
Is a 7 month off-season long enough to complete a $24M stadium renovation?
Cheney Stadium, originally built in 1960, is home to the Tacoma Rainiers, a Triple-A baseball team. The fast-tracked renovation project was completed in one off-season and took only 210 days to complete, from the Rainiers' final home game on Sept. 2, 2010, to completion on April 1, 2011. The new ballpark includes 16 luxury suites, a 4,000 SF club, and restaurant, new administrative team offices, a new right field seating berm, left field improvements, and a new outfield fence. Additions were constructed using local materials intended to reflect Tacoma and the Pacific Northwest.
