College Of Dupage Library Renovation / Glen Ellyn, IL
Can you renovate a college library to add natural light?
Within the Student Resource Center at the College of DuPage, Mortenson was asked to renovate the existing 118,000 square foot library space. The library project includes a phased full demolition and renovation of the existing library, including new mechanical, electrical, and technology systems as well as new finishes. The scope of the Library project also includes the academic Computing Center, IT department build-out, and loading dock. An opening was cut through the structural slab at the center of the building to create a new two-story open atrium in the Library. This novel feature boasts exposed high ceilings with decorative light fixtures as well as open glass railings to highlight the space.
