Denver Broncos Scoreboard Enhancement and Team Store

Mortenson is proud to have played a crucial role in the largest capital project investment in the 22-year history of Empower Field at Mile High, supported by the NFL’s G-4 financing program. This extensive renovation, which began in January and was completed before the 2023 season kickoff, encompasses significant upgrades to video boards, and the Broncos Team Store all while navigating multiple sold out concerts and events.

South-End Scoreboard

The centerpiece of the project is the dramatic expansion of the southend scoreboard by 70%, resulting in a new 72-feet-tall by 225-feetwide video board. This impressive structure is now the fourth-largest scoreboard in the NFL. Broncos fans will experience enhanced visuals and a more immersive game-day atmosphere, making it the most enticing upgrade of all.

Broncos Team Store

The Broncos Team Store underwent a substantial transformation, expanding from 4,800 square feet to 7,500 square feet. This 25% increase in size includes more point-of-sale systems, expanded checkout areas, and the addition of customer restrooms for the first time. The redesigned store is tailored to be more customer-friendly with efficient restocking capabilities, ensuring popular items are readily available on game days.

Construction Highlights

• Bucky the Bronco: The iconic 27-foot-tall fiberglass horse, Bucky, was temporarily removed and then reinstated atop the South Stands after the new video screen installation. Bucky, a fixture since 1975, continues to preside over the stadium, symbolizing the enduring spirit of the Denver Broncos.
• Innovative Design: The new store layout includes exclusive gameday items and a line of “snowcapped” gear to complement the Broncos’ new alternate white helmet. Popular items such as hats, jerseys, clear bags, and foam fingers are now more accessible to fans, enhancing their overall shopping experience.
