The newly rebranded and renovated Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center is owned by the City of Coralville and anchors the Iowa River Landing, which includes Xtream Arena, restaurants, retail stores, and other attractions. The hotel, originally a Marriott Hotel and Conference Center was built in 2006 and partially renovated in 2019 by Mortenson.

The renovation includes a complete refresh of the 286 guest rooms and adds two suites to increase the room count to 288. Guest rooms include local artwork, new smart TVs and smart lighting, custom furniture and flooring, and new beds. The team also added a new Regency Club lounge to the first floor, upgraded the fitness center and resurfaced the pool and spa.

The Edgewater Grille & Bar was converted to a new restaurant concept called the Watermill Kitchen and Bar, which opened on April 10, 2024. The restaurant renovation introduces a vibrant and nostalgic dining experience to the area. By sourcing local ingredients, the restaurant will genuinely embody Midwestern hospitality. The space features an outdoor patio to serve hotel guests, locals, and other visitors.

The hotel and restaurant refresh will take this property to the next level and will serve as a showcase for the area offering amenities and experiences you can’t get anywhere else. It’s the only full-service hotel in the area, which means it’s ideal for those traveling for sports or performing arts events as well as the increasing number of leisure travelers and remote workers who want a beautiful destination within walking distance of so much.

Together, Anything is Possible

The renovation encompassed 288 rooms completed in 101 working days (equivalent to 144 calendar days), averaging two remodeled rooms per day. This transformation occurred seamlessly within a fully operational hotel, with the strategic approach of shutting down no more than two floors at a time. The guestroom remodel featured enhancements such as new tile and carpet in bathrooms and rooms, 74 shower conversions, updated wall coverings, millwork, and electrical upgrades.
