This Emergency Department renovation project involves the conversion of four observation rooms into a Trauma 1, two-bay, resuscitation room. Due to a limited number of service valves on medical gas lines, a high level of coordination with Phoenix Children's Hospital and the plumbing subcontractor was required to ensure timely construction and minimize disruption to Emergency Department operations. Twelve isolation valves were added to aid in future building maintenance.
While working in the small, occupied, high traffic area, our team engaged in daily coordination and communication with the nursing staff as well as facilities and maintenance staff. Hourly communication was required, as well as daily modifications to the ICRA barrier. Our team also worked off-hours to avoid disruption to hospital operations.
