Pryor Mountain Wind Project / Bridger, MT
Increasing a state's wind energy portfolio by 30%.
Mortenson was selected by PacifiCorp, a subsidiary of longtime customer Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company, to build the Pryor Mountain Wind Project in Bridger, Montana. This project added 240 MW of wind energy to the state’s capacity, at the time, of 800 MW. This increased Montana's clean energy portfolio by 30 percent. Construction commenced in late April of 2020 and was complete in December.
The scope of work included public road improvements, access roads, foundations, underground collection, erection of 110 Vestas and 4 GE turbines, substation, O&M building and met towers. About 300 construction workers were employed during peak construction. All civil work was self-performed.
Multiple pipeline crossings in the 20.5-acre project site was a challenge for this project. To mitigate, the team collaborated with the customer and individual pipeline companies to minimize the number of crossings and ensure we were in compliance with all the requirements.
