Mortenson was selected as Construction Manager and General Contractor to complete the UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital. The new hospital campus in Highlands Ranch was built on a 33.3-acre greenfield site. The facility is 360,000 square feet in size, along with an adjacent 85,000-square-foot medical office building that houses a two-story cancer center and parking garage.
The hospital features a birth center including C-section operating rooms and Level III NICU, intensive care unit, operating rooms, Level III trauma center, and emergency department, advanced cardiac services, and complete imaging. The project consists of 165-beds (111-finished beds and 54-shelled beds) as well as a 550-stall parking garage.
Mortenson used prefabrication to help ensure the aggressive construction schedule stayed on track, including 51-prefabricated bathrooms, 70-prefabricated head wall components, and 713-prefabricated exterior panels. Mortenson also leveraged advanced virtual and augmented reality to ensure design intent was seamlessly translated into efficient and productive spaces at buildout, enhancing staff productivity and improving patient care. This included “virtual box walks” that helped ensure room and equipment layouts supported the needs of the end-users. This feedback is incorporated into the final design and building models.
