The 113,000 square foot new three-story Anschutz Medical Campus Health Sciences Library includes administrative space, circulation space as well as a learning resource center, space for reference services, resource services, systems-databases, material storage, education and health informatics, information access, study spaces, the History of Medicine collection, and specialized building support spaces.
The 113,000 square foot new three-story Anschutz Medical Campus Health Sciences Library meld collaborative workspaces with comfortable, quiet study areas. Large expanses of windows and smaller, light-channeling windows bring in sunlight from the east and west, creating airy, light-filled spaces for research and study. Public computers on the first-floor act as the hub of the new library, which facilitates research and use of the library’s electronic resources.
Library and medical informatics courses are taught in state-of-the-art teaching labs located on the first floor. The second floor unites all of the library’s print journals from the 1800s to the present in one convenient area. The third floor of the new library houses books, special collections, a reading room, and a gallery space. Thirty small group study rooms are located optimally throughout the library building. Wireless connection and other cutting edge technologies support mobile work and study.
