U of MN Cancer Research Building

Supporting collaboration on the world's most critical cures

Phase 2 of the University of Minnesota's Biomedical Discovery District consists of a 158,000 square foot Cancer Research Building and addition to the 96,000 square foot Lillehei Heart Research Building. The project also includes a large vivarium that supports the entire campus. Mortenson constructed the expansion of the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research as part of Phase 1.

The Biomedical Discovery District is the result of a $292 million funding program approved by the State of Minnesota, bringing over 1,200 scientists and researchers together to collaborate in state-of-the-art facilities to find cures and treatments for today’s most devastating health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and more.
