The Walker Art Center expansion and renovation, designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, is a Twin Cities landmark and a cultural icon. The complicated geometry, unique detailing, and innovative use of materials results in a striking experience for the museum patron. The renovation features galleries and gardens for the museum's growing collection; a technologically sophisticated studio for contemporary dance, music, performance, and theater programs; a new-media laboratory; new spaces for innovative education programs; and visitor amenities, including a new restaurant, cafe, and shop.
