Heather brings 19 years of industry experience to her Senior Design Phase Manager role since joining Mortenson’s team in 2022. Her diverse background, which includes seven (7) years in architecture and 12 years in construction, is a testament to her depth of knowledge and expertise. Equipped with a Master’s degree in architecture, along with her credentials as a licensed architect, LEED Green Associate, and Design-Build Associate, Heather possesses a formidable skill set tailored to the complexities of construction management.
Her passion for problem-solving is evident in her approach, prioritizing early planning in the design phases to mitigate issues before they manifest in the field. Heather thrives in the dynamic nature of her role, finding fulfillment in the daily challenges and opportunities for innovation that arise in the fast- paced, high-stress construction industry.
Heather's anticipation for the next big revolution in the construction industry reflects her forward-thinking mindset and readiness for change. She recognizes the imminent need for streamlining processes from concept to construction start and is driven by the prospect of transformative change within an industry ripe for innovation.
Heather is deeply involved in industry organizations such as the Design- Build Institute of America (DBIA), Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network, and National Association for Industrial Office Parks (NAIOP) and has taken the lead in launching a unique networking endeavor named Creative Connections. This initiative aims to cultivate camaraderie among industry peers by offering a diverse array of activities, from basket weaving to cake decorating to gardening. Through Creative Connections, Heather intends to create a welcoming space for industry professionals to forge meaningful connections outside the traditional networking settings. Notably, all proceeds from Creative Connections events are dedicated to charitable causes, exemplifying the organization’s commitment to giving back to the community.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Heather finds joy in hobbies that allow her to unwind and connect with her interests, including crafting, engaging in casual sports like golfing with her son, and cooking new meals to share with loved ones.
