With a Bachelor's in civil engineering and a Master's in construction management from Montana State University, Jennifer joined Mortenson full-time in 2000 before parting ways in 2009. She later returned to the group in 2016 as a project manager and has steadily climbed to the role of Project Executive. She has spent most of her career leading projects on various college campuses throughout Washington. From her experience working with Everett Community College, Highline College, Seattle University, and the University of Washington, Jennifer brings an extensive understanding of the importance of putting students first and of leading a lean, efficient, safe process that focuses on student success while maximizing the value that the institution receives for the dollars invested. Jennifer utilizes her risk management skills to ensure projects remain according to plan and ensure project teams correctly and efficiently execute delivery on schedule. Jennifer is also a LEED Accredited Professional.
Throughout her work on the University of Washington Softball Performance Center project, Jennifer enjoyed connecting with student-athletes and coaching staff and collaborating with her project team to tackle the unique building challenges that the site brought, such as mitigating contaminated soils and minimizing the impact of trapped methane gas on site. She finds that the obstacles presented with each project allow her to work closely with her project team to generate new ideas and solutions. Her most favored aspect of the job is the feeling she gets from mentoring teams and witnessing them succeed. Jennifer's extensive knowledge of risk mitigation, higher education, and client coordination is vital for the success of each project.
When she's not at work, she thoroughly enjoys spending time with her two kids. She loves playing a part in her role as dugout mom on her son's little league baseball team and helping with her daughter's robotics team through the FIRST Robotics program (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).
