Joe Butkovich

Joe is a construction and engineering management professional with a primary career focus on project development, execution, and organizational leadership in the energy and industrial markets, both domestic and internationally.

As Director of Business Development at Mortenson, Joe provides leadership and strategy from project concept to completion. He is responsible for the development and sponsored execution of all markets in the Power Delivery group with project sizes ranging from $10mm to $1B+ in total installed cost. Joe provides insight and expertise to the customer for an optimal return on investment and consistently exhibits his knowledge of market strategy, identifying and capitalizing on opportunities, and cultivating valuable relationships.

Prior to joining Mortenson, Joe was an Operations Leadership Vice President at a Global Design-Build, Engineering, Construction, and Consulting firm where he spent the majority of his career. At this firm, he most recently oversaw major projects and the Project Services Group including project controls, estimating, information management / document control, construction management, procurement, and material management. During his tenure, he also oversaw multiple national and regional construction and engineering groups, starting his career as a Field Engineer and working his way up through the organization.

Joe received his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Colorado State University and has extensive graduate-level coursework through the Global Energy Management Program at the University of Colorado - Denver.

In his free time, you can likely find Joe in the mountains year-round either fishing, hunting, camping, mountain biking, dirt biking, snowmobiling or back-country skiing and spending time with his family and friends.
