As Design Phase Executive for Mortenson’s Phoenix business, Joe is responsible for providing input and leadership during the design phase process. Joe possesses a deep understanding of the technical and planning attributes associated with specific building types, allowing him to provide valuable input to the project's programming and conceptual design activities. He also coordinates design team members and oversees pre-construction services, including estimating, scheduling, project planning, constructability, and site utilization.
With over 16 years of expertise in design phase management, Joe's direct communication and collaboration with our project teams, design partners, and customers is pivotal in ensuring certainty and proactively addressing challenges. Through his early engagement from the beginning of our projects, Joe enables our team to develop innovative solutions while staying true to our customers' vision. Prior to joining Mortenson, Joe amassed extensive experience working on several notable projects throughout the Southwest. Throughout the Valley, Joe has led projects like Banner Desert Medical Center New Women’s Tower, Mirabella at ASU, CBD Oil Extraction, Distillation, and Packaging Facility. Outside of Arizona, Joe has led some of the region’s most high-profile and complex projects such as Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (a state-of-the-art 1.8 million square-foot sports venue for the Las Vegas Raiders and the University of Las Vegas football teams) and the Tom Bradley International Terminal Modernization at the Los Angeles International Airport. Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Southern California.
