In Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin’s five-year master plan, their vision was to consolidate surgical and interventional services from four separate locations in the hospital. The Integrated Procedural Platform will combine surgical and interventional care areas on a single, centrally located floor and will better accommodate today’s surgical technologies. The result will be an environment that enhances patient safety, streamlines workflow, and fosters quality and efficiency. This four-year-long, phased renovation requires precise coordination, extensive communication with hospital staff, and detailed disruption avoidance planning to keep surgery operational 24/7. The renovation will also include:
- 77,600 SF Integrated Procedural Platform (Phase 1)
- 45,000 SF Integrated Procedural Platform (Phase 2)
- 46,000 SF vertical expansion
- Expansion and renovation to existing central sterile processing
- New emergency power distribution and generators to support the entire Froedtert campus
Upon completion, the platform will have 32 operating rooms, four catheterization rooms, 8 interventional radiology suites, one intraoperative MRI, one procedure CT, and 48 post-anesthesia care units, 6 RAPS rooms. This will be one of the very few hospitals in the nation that will have created this integrated environment.
