Modern Aviation FBO and Hangar / Englewood, CO
Can airport construction and expansion be done with pre-engineered metal buildings?
Mortenson constructed a new 7,000-square-foot FBO (Fixed Base of Operation), two hangar structures, and supporting shop space at Centennial Airport (KAPA) in Colorado. The main structure is a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB). The exterior site work included a new 155,000-square-foot aircraft ramp area, customer and employee parking lot, canopy-covered drop off area, and modifications to the ROW.
Mortenson self-performed the ramp concrete and tied into the existing taxiway of a fully operational airport. Centennial Airport is the second busiest non-commercial airport in the country.
