Woodward is a manufacturing company that integrates leading-edge technologies into fuel, combustion, fluid, actuation, and electronic control systems for the aerospace and energy markets. Mortenson transformed Woodward’s 330,000 sf warehouse/core and shell office space into a state-of-the-art manufacturing and production facility. The facility consolidated five separate Woodward facilities located nearby in the suburbs of Chicago.

Mortenson’s relationship with Woodward, Inc. began on the Lincoln Campus project in Fort Collins, CO. The 600,000 sf office and manufacturing campus, completed in early 2016, was such a success that Woodward sought out Mortenson’s construction management services for the manufacturing and office facility in Niles, IL. 

A modern steel staircase with stone treads gives the office an edgy, contemporary feel. The full interior curtainwall spans both levels, separating the office space from the manufacturing facility. The manufacturing facility is equipped with polished concrete floors with a salt-and-pepper finish, making the functional design more dynamic. Large skylights were installed throughout the building for maximum exposure to natural light.
