Driving Leadership and Innovation
I believe in servant leadership and feel that is part of what makes Mortenson a dynamic and authentic organization. We encourage diversity of thought and creating inclusive, equitable environments where team members can become leaders in the community.
It’s in these environments that we can drive innovation and bring true value to our customers. And I feel that is what differentiates Mortenson as a healthcare construction company and organization.
Solving Complex Challenges
Healthcare’s greatest challenge right now is finding ways to drive quality and equitable healthcare outcomes that have been magnified by the pandemic. Part of this challenge is the complex financial infrastructure propping our healthcare industry, along with shortfalls and rising costs with labor and supply. Additionally, technology and artificial intelligence continues to rapidly evolve–lighting the way for the healthcare industry to face its own version of the Industrial Revolution.
A huge part of navigating these challenges is learning how to create an ecosystem of integrated, efficient, and flexible spaces that enable quality care delivery. It leverages today’s care team model and emerging technologies, so healthcare customers deliver the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
Doing the Right Thing for Our Communities
Part of doing the right thing and inspiring what’s possible is having project teams reflect the communities in which we work in and serve. These values reflect the diversity within our organization and help us build platforms of trust with our partners.
As a guest lecturer for the Shenehon Center for Real Estate at the University of St. Thomas, I enjoy helping tomorrow’s leaders think through the intersection of healthcare and real estate, and how it affects our market and communities.
PERSONAL PASSIONS
I’m passionate about helping people be the best they can be. Part of that is doing what I can to help remove barriers that hold people back from achieving something that’s important to them, like access to education or resources. I’ve also been involved in initiatives to increase exposure to commercial real estate careers for people of color. More recently, I became involved in a mentorship program for people in the LGBTQIA+ community.
