Melanie joined Mortenson in 1994, and currently serves as the Director of Operations for our Phoenix office. Melanie is committed to making a difference in Arizona communities and focuses on investing in top talent for the company’s southwest operations. Melanie has focused much of her career on mentoring the next generation of leaders. With a passion and belief that it is her duty to increase the opportunities for women in the construction industry through mentorship, Melanie has sponsored numerous team members as they navigate obstacles early in their careers, leading by example and demonstrating that there is an achievable path to a successful and rewarding career in construction. She is constantly pushing the boundaries of creating an inclusive and equitable culture in the industry and has a deep drive to ensure all voices at the table are heard and encourages diverse perspectives.
Melanie has extensive experience leading some of the company’s largest, complex, multi-phased projects, with a focus in the hospitality and healthcare sectors. Throughout the Valley, she has been integral in leading the Great Wolf Lodge in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Hyatt Place/Hyatt House Tempe Downtown hotel, and, most recently the Hyatt Place Phoenix Downtown hotel which was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget without a single recordable injury during the duration of the entire project. Additionally, Melanie was the project executive for the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center, an 85-acre development including more than 1.9 million square feet of hotel, retail, commercial and convention space, the Denver Health Pavilion M, and Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
