Mark Baughman, DBIA, LEED AP
Project Executive | Seattle

Mark plays a crucial role in Mortenson's local success, joining in 1990. He serves as a project executive and continually establishes himself as a leader in healthcare construction, overseeing some of the region's most complex and high-profile projects. As a Project Executive, Mark serves as a conduit for our owners and their project objectives, ensuring that our internal teams and workforce understand the driving factors behind a project. He oversees contract management, support for Owners and Designers during design, oversight of budget development and resolution, development of project schedules starting at the conceptual phase, project team strategy, and development, coordination with jurisdictional entities, and leadership in developing project culture.

Mark's extensive experience has primarily focused on leading large-scale, multi-phased healthcare projects that require specific technical expertise and a strong planning effort. Mark works nimbly within smaller project scopes and renovation projects on active campuses to large-scale bed tower build-outs and medical office buildings. From 2008 to 2011, Mark worked instrumentally at the Providence Regional Medical Center Everett Cymbaluk Medical Tower. This Level II Trauma Center hospital showcases his ability to deliver on challenging timelines and stringent quality standards within active healthcare environments. Mark prioritizes patient care and operational efficiency throughout the construction process and consistently delivers projects on time and within budget while upholding the highest safety and quality standards.

Currently, Mark is a driving force behind the Providence Swedish First Hill Transformation. On the North Tower Expansion project, his leadership is guiding the delivery of one of the most critical healthcare facilities in the Pacific Northwest.

Mark's leadership goes beyond his technical and managerial skills; he fosters collaborative environments that enable his teams to thrive. His practical knowledge and problem-solving abilities aren't just skills but a source of reassurance for his teams and partners on healthcare projects. His hands-on approach and talent for building and mentoring high-performing teams ensure a smooth transition from the design phase to a reliable construction phase.

Mark earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from Iowa State University, which provided a strong foundation for his expertise in project management. He also holds a professional designation from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) and is an LEED Accredited Professional.
